Summer Paralympic Games 2012

Bauerfeind products used with great success by athletes from all nations

Bauerfeind's supports, orthoses, medical compression stockings and orthopedic orthoses came to the aid of athletes on more than 350 occasions during the Summer Paralympic Games in London. As an official supplier, the medical product manufacturer, based in Zeulenroda in Thuringia, provided medical support for all Paralympic athletes with its own team of orthotists.

From August 29 to September 9, a team of six Bauerfeind employees from the United Kingdom and Germany worked in shifts at the polyclinic in the main Olympic Village in Stratford. The polyclinic was open to all 4,400 Paralympic athletes from 164 countries.

Bauerfeind supports for elbows and wrists, as well as supports for the back and knees, were in particularly high demand. The Bauerfeind team was called upon to provide aid almost 350 times during the Paralympics.

Two Olympic outings for Bauerfeind this summer

Bauerfeind AG - together with its own team of orthotists - was the only German medical product manufacturer present on site at both the Paralympics and the Summer Olympic Games as a supplier in the "braces" category. Bauerfeind also ran its traditional orthopedic service station in the German House during the Olympic Games. In total, over 1,100 Bauerfeind products were used in London.
